Kirillos Veniadis was born in Greece in
1936
Having won the 1 st place in entrance examinations, he was awarded a state
scholarship and graduated the Athens "School of Fine Arts"
(Studio of Giannis Moralis 1957 -1961) with honors and prizes.
In 1961 he was appointed Professor of Art in the Discipline of Painting at
(Doxiadis Athens Technological institute), a position he held until he
left Greece in 1972.
From 1959 to 1972 Veniadis was working with and under the guidance of the
renowned Artist and teacher Spiros Vassiliou.

During the period of the dictatorship in Greece (1967 -1974) as a teacher
he refused to cooperate with the regime, nod thus suffered threats and 2
attempts on his life that were masked as traffic accidents ( July 10 1968)
April 12 1972. These events made him look for refuge in Canada.
The riots of the Politechnion the very school Veniadis graduated from
where tens of students were killed by the Hunda found Veniadis in Montreal.
As response he created series of paintings that were shown
in two exhibitions, in Montreal (1975) and Ottawa 1976 and today are owned
by private collectors. Two of those paintings are kept by the Artist.
..Rigopoulou" named after a student who lost her legs in a tank attack
and ., Komninos" named after a student who was killed at the age 17.
Two others were donated by the artist to the Greek Cultural Center, and to
the Organization for the liberation for Cyprus in Montreal.
The present exhibition includes works that were done in the last 3 years.
Paintings of various styles and inspirations such as memories from Greece,
Israel portraits and North American scenes.

Kyrillos Veniadis has died on a rainy
Saturday, the 15th of April 1995.
